He was noted running on strongly at the finish and, provided he's wintered well, could take all the beating stepped up in trip today. Fiorente was only fifth over 1m3f here on his debut last month but that was behind the smart World Domination and he could get a lot closer this time. Searing Heat is a well-bred colt who could make a big impression on his debut.
Derby-entrant Fiorente shaped with plenty of promise on his debut here last month, and he'll be hard to beat with improvement seemingly assured. Unex Renoir will do better this year, while Searing Heat and Run Rabbit Run are newcomers of extreme interest.

Second in a Group 3 at Ascot last month, he can go one better dropped in grade today. Polly's Mark, a Listed winner at Ascot last September, resumed this season with a short-head defeat in the same grade at Goodwood last month and looks the danger. Drunken Sailor is yet to sparkle this year but was a Listed winner last and can't be ruled out.

Baby Strange won this in 2008 and scored at Wolverhampton last time out but looks to have plenty of weight now. Mac's Power landed a double last autumn but the handicapper might have caught up with him, while Windsor winner Spanish Bounty and the useful Fleeting Echo look to have plenty to do at the weights. Preference is for ADDICTIVE DREAM, whose two wins last year came on polytrack. He put in a fine effort at Goodwood last month on his seasonal reappearance when second and can go one better now.
Oil Strike comes from a stable in very good form and, though both his wins have come on AW, he is effective on turf. He remains capable of better and is marginally preferred to Addictive Dream and Mac's Power.

Dominant appreciated the step up to this trip when second at Sandown but he's up 6lb in the ratings and may need further still. Labarinto landed a 7f Warwick maiden last September and resumed with a good fourth over this trip at Newmarket last month. He should go close but preference is for AL KAZEEM, a winner over a mile here last October. His second in a 1m2f conditions race over C&D last month was particularly impressive in a contest that has thrown up some good sorts over the years and he looks up to scoring here.
Dominant was an unlucky loser on his reappearance and can gain compensation here despite a 6 lb rise. Fulgur and Labarinto represent stables renowned for their prowess with this type and are both respected.

Canford Cliffs ended last season with a hat-trick of Group 1 wins and will be a warm order here but it's worth noting that his three meetings with DICK TURPIN have gone 2-1 in the latter's favour. Canford Cliffs should emerge on top on the figures but he hasn't been out since last July, while his stablemate comes fresh from an impressive Group 2 success at Sandown and he's worth supporting at the forecast odds. Twice Over, winner of the Champion Stakes at Newmarket last October, might find this on the short side but he's a class act and certainly can't be ruled out.
There wasn't a huge amount between Canford Cliffs and Dick Turpin last season, and although the former is likely to confirm himself the better horse in the long term, this could be Dick Turpin's big day having proved his well-being at Sandown. Cityscape may prove best of the rest.

SKILFUL went into many notebooks when a close third over 6f at Doncaster last November on his debut. If he has wintered well, he should be up to scoring on his seasonal reappearance. The danger looks to be Rougette, fourth over C&D on her debut last month. She didn't get the best of runs that day, though, and could get a lot closer here. Quadrant, fourth over a mile here on debut, and the newcomer Shahzan, can also be given chances.

This looks a good opportunity for MIDSUMMER SUN to open his account at the second time of asking, after a good effort over C&D on his debut last month. He still holds a Derby entry and if he's to stand his ground in the Epsom classic, he needs to win in style here. That seems entirely possible. Antarctic, an 80,000-euro newcomer from the John Gosden yard, and Mijhaar, second over the mile here last back-end, could give the selection most to think about.
Mijhaar shaped very nicely on his debut and can make a winning return to action upped in trip. Tonnerre and the well-touted Midsummer Sun could prove best of the rest.
