Secret Society and ESPIRITU finished second and fourth in the Britannia Stakes at Ascot and that is the dominant form on display here. There is little to choose between them once again on the book but Jeremy Noseda's charge had fewer rivals to race against on his side of the track and could possibly have slightly more improvement to give than his main opponent. Sioux Rising is an interesting contender at the foot of the weights stepping up for the first time to 7f, but she looks a potential improver and her yard remains in stellar form.

In many ways it goes against the grain to recommend a colt whose only success came in a Wolverhampton maiden but SHAMALI looks a useful 4-y-o in the making. He has only had five runs and was dropped 1lb by the handicapper for his latest run, a respectable third to Australia Day in a decent Sandown handicap. Improvement is anticipated and he can account for the hat-trick seeking Shavansky, up 8lb for his latest successes, and Midnight Cruiser, who appreciated the step up to this trip when scoring readily at Windsor. Topweight King Charles has the talent to get involved.

Cesare's form at his favourite venue is there for all to see and the likeable 8-y-o showed that he retains all his ability when finishing a splendid second to Paco Boy in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes. He is almost guaranteed to go well once again but AQLAAM was only half a length further away in third that day and has the potential to improve further with only five career runs to date, including a success in last season's Jersey Stakes. He can repay the patience of William Haggas and gain a first Group 2 success. Imbongi, impressive at Newmarket, and Dream Eater are not discounted.

Any number of possibles here but STEP IN TIME was far from disgraced when finishing in mid-division in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot, performing in a fashion that suggested a return to 6f would be beneficial. He can concede the weight to Cultured Pride, the representative of the Richard Hannon juvenile army, who can be expected to progress from a narrow Goodwood success. Soul Heaven won with something in hand at Lingfield and the Oratorio colt should get involved, along with northern challenger and narrow Doncaster victor, Wigan Lane.

DESERT KISS has something to find with Alsace Lorraine on their running at Yarmouth in the spring but she's better off at the weights and has scored a ready victory since when quickening up nicely to oblige at Kempton over this trip. With only a handful of races under her belt, Walter Swinburn can be expected to generate further improvement from the Cape Cross filly. Alsace Lorraine also scored subsequently in convincing fashion at Doncaster and should go well despite a welter burden. Aim To Achieve is thoroughly unexposed and it will be interesting to see if the money comes for her.

This looks a typically trappy sprint handicap and it might be worth chancing JUDGE 'N JURY. The Pivotal gelding rattled up six wins on turf last time which inevitably saw his handicap rating soar dramatically. He has understandably found life tough this time around but he hasn't been beaten too far in listed and Group company and could be on a more workable mark now. He is given the nod back in handicap company. Biniou edged out Captain Dunne on his only outing this term and represents a threat, with Equuleus Pictor and Cheveton also meriting respect.

Another difficult sprint handicap to close the day and IVORY SILK is a hopeful choice. He has been beaten in photo finishes the last twice, notably when returning from a lengthy absence to run The Jobber to a head at Salisbury. She has a splendidly consistent overall profile and remains on a feasible handicap mark. Zowington is an obvious danger after striking form with a vengeance in mid-June. He is up 11lb for those successes but cannot be ruled out in his current mood. Our Piccadilly and Mandurah are in fine form at present and should be in the mix.
