Verdict

RAPTOR ISLAND makes his local debut and it may well be a winning one. He is better than his last run would suggest and meets a lot of battlers. BRIDGERTON continues to be a bitter disappointment but should at least contest the finish. WESTERN JACK is better than his recent showings and has a place chance. GOOSEBUMPS makes his local debut and would not be a surprise winner. SEETHEBADGE was not disgraced when fourth in his only turf race and can go close back on turf. CHALCOS and MALDANO have also only had the one run so far and could be ready to improve.

Verdict

A competitive race. Newcomer GIDEON'S DAUGHTER caught the eye on debut. Trainer Alan Greeff knows what is needed of his newcomers and Richard Fourie is aboard her. MY MISTRESS quickened well on debut and she can do even better this time and is a huge danger. SUNSET ROAR was fair on her Polytrack debut and could do better trying the turf. QUIRK OF FATE was a disappointment last time out but did better when first tried with blinkers and could improve. MAGENTA has lost her way of late but is capable of contesting the finish.

Verdict

Trainer Justin Snaith has threatened to run PRINCE OF DENMARK at Fairview before but didn't. The Duke Of Marmalade gelding steps up in distance and may well be better than some modest rivals. JOE HARMAN knows what it takes to win a race but somehow manages not to. He has been runner-up numerous times and is course-and-distance suited and should be right there at the finish. SASSY tries this longer distance and is usually running on late. Stablemates FEARLESS BADGER and AND IT'S OVER have been disappointing so far but are capable of vast improvement this distance.

Verdict

MACHETE MAN won this year's East Cape Derby on the Polytrack and while we will be hoping the rain stays away and we race on the turf this Friday he may well prefer the Polytrack. He has been good on the turf and can win this even if on the surface. CASTLETOWN put in a much better performance last time but this is a lot further. JAEGER MOON is weighted to win this and is right at home over this track and trip. JACOB'S LADDER is holding form and could earn some money. Stable companion BOURNEMOUTH and WILDEST DREAMS have both made good progress this year and are not out of it.

MEDLER'S TART made good progress throughout her three-year-old season and won well last time out. This is a tougher bunch of competitors but she gets the vote to score. SANTA THERESE is weighted to win but indicated that she may well have seen her best days gone past. She took a long time to get going last time and finished fourth, behind rivals she would once have slammed. She may well win but let us see. VERONICA MARS is returning to her best form and should be right there at the finish once again. It looks a competitive race and FUTURE GIRL, WINTER SCOUT and FLOWER OF SAIGON are capable of winning.

Verdict

An interesting race. ZATARA MAGIC lived up to his racing last time out with a good win and he may well follow up. ALINGALONGA has been in very good form of late and should fight out the finish once again. NORTON SOUND was very good in the Eastern Cape so it was disappointing to see him struggle in Gauteng. Back in his home he should be a danger if fit and well. SEQUOIA has won twice on the Polytrack and may prefer that surface but is not out of it. BRENDEN JAMES and SON OF ZEUS are both capable of winning again over this course and distance.
